Scammer & Hackers Guide

1. Never, ever give out your account information such as password, e-mail etc.
2. If someone offers to ‘neosit’, or play games on your account so you can have an avatar, report them right away. Even if they are honest, having someone else play a game for you is illegal.
3. If you think a person is a potential hacker, don’t even reveal your username. We’ve seen methods of hacking just by knowing username. They can also falsely report you of doing something when in truth they did it in your account.

Scammers

1. Scams include, but not limited to, fake items, asking for passwords, pretending to be someone else or staff members.
2. Fake Items – By fake items, we mean for ex. A person ask 600k for a so-called Baby Paint Brush (In truth it’s a Baby Paint Brush Plushie), or trying to trick people into believing Sparkly Blue Paint really paint your petpet blue. These are NOT TRUE. We have a list of look-alikes that you should be aware of.

3. An ‘unguessable’ password – In the recent years TNT have taken many actions to ensure the safety of our account, such as requiring at least a number in our password. However, it is still recommended to create a good password. The below examples are not my password, or anyone’s (well, hopefully not). The base of this word is ‘ironic’.

Bad Password: ironic
Good Password: 1rOnIc

4. Fake Staff Members – People sometimes pretend to be staff members to ask for neopoints/password etc. If you get any neomails claiming to be staff members, make sure the usernames are one of those on the list.

But these staff (except theneopetsteam) won’t be likely to neomail you.

6. Bribes – There are people who would try to bribe you into revealing your password. There WAS a quiz on Quizilla titled ‘neopets players come here’, and there was a single question, and the only option is ‘collect the paint brush’. At the results page the neopets player said she have a paint brush she wants to giveaway, and below there is a screenshot of it in her inventory. The image is broken however. She told us to send her our username and password and the paintbrush will be in our inventory next day. This is just bizarre. If she wants to get rid of a paint brush so badly, why can’t she just send it to us? This is most obviously a scam, but unfortunately she did not provide her username and we cannot report her.
